Level 3 Foundation Knowledge is an Ofqual-regulated stage in the Matrix Aesthetics Academy pathway. Level 3 builds the underpinning knowledge required to work safely in medical aesthetics. It's your starting point if you don't hold a healthcare, nursing or dental background — and it's a mandatory foundation before progressing to any practical aesthetic training.
Please note: Completion times are provided as a guide only. Qualifications may take longer depending on the learner's availability, practical progress and assessment completion. Where a learner is converting existing qualifications or can provide suitable evidence of previous learning and experience, the timeframe may be shortened through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). One of our course advisors can review your circumstances and explain your expected completion timeframe.
This is an assignment-based, self-paced qualification covering anatomy, physiology, infection control, health & safety, pathology and consultation. You'll complete five written assignments and build the base knowledge every regulated aesthetic practitioner is expected to demonstrate.
New entrants to aesthetics without a prior healthcare qualification, or anyone needing an Ofqual-regulated foundation before progressing to hands-on treatments.
A recognised Level 3 qualification that unlocks entry into every Matrix pathway and progression to Level 4.
One shared stage across the Matrix pathways — same regulated content, same outcome.
Assignment-based
The same Level 3 foundation is used in both the Qualification and Accelerator routes. Complete the written assignments at your own pace, then progress to your chosen Level 4 stage.
Five mandatory units. Candidates must complete all mandatory units to complete this qualification. There are no optional units at this level.
